The project aimed to assess the current conditions of the existing wastewater treatment plants in Alcórrego and Aldeia Velha and to promote interventions in order to address the weaknesses found, in particular, the rehabilitation works in input circuit, the remodeling of the bypasses, the repair and construction of support infrastructures and the introduction of equipment for measuring the flow at the outlet of the wastewater treatment plant. Still in this project, the planning for two new wastewater treatment plants, Valongo Figueira and Barros, was made. Both treatment plants will contemplate the introduction of a secondary treatment to remove nutrients (phosphorus) and were designed for a population of 500 people.
