The project comprises the renovation and improvement of the Póvoa da Galega subsystem that covers the population of Póvoa da Galega, Milharado, Venda do Pinheiro, Asseiceira Grande, Tituaria, Roussada, Charneca and Casais da Serra. It was envisaged the construction of a 1 km interceptor in the village of Póvoa da Galega, with the purpose of deactivating three pumping stations, and the construction of over than 4 km of interceptors to collect the wastewater of the villages near the Póvoa da Galega. The construction of a pumping station on the premises treatment plant wastewater also defined which will bring the wastewater effluent up to the work input.

Since the drainage systems of the municipal system are mostly unitary, there is a strong contribution of runoff arriving to the pumping stations and interceptors, during the rain periods. Thus, we considered the construction of several storm spillways at strategic points of the subsystem.
