UrbanWater is a collaborative ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) project, co-funded under the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission, where AQUALOGUS integrated a team of 10 partners, including ICT companies, research organizations and management entities from seven different European countries.
The objective of this project was the development, demonstration and economic feasibility of an innovative ICT platform for the integrated management of water resources in the area of ??urban supply. This scheme is intended to benefit consumers, public bodies, the general public and the environment by:
- providing tools that will enable users to reduce their water consumption.
- helping management entities to meet demand and to lower costs.
- encouraging partnerships between management, managing bodies, equipment suppliers and software companies to ensure the model's commercial success and the affirmation of the European water sector as a global leader.
The project integrated high quality and already proven solutions for data management and billing systems, with innovative models for forecasting water supply availability, predicting customers demands and detecting leakages. It also gathers real measured data from sensors connected to the water network infrastructure. It has developed spatial tools based on strong know-how from previous developments in the field of supporting distributors and authorities in decision-making. Furthermore, the project has developed innovative solutions to empower customers and efficiently integrate them in the UrbanWater platform.
