The purpose of the study was the kinetic evaluation of the chlorine decay in the water supply systems included in the ATMAD concession. The study was developed with hydraulic and water quality modelling of the systems.
Given the defined objective, the applied methodology involved the compilation of the system’s cadastral elements and of the equipments’ operational settings concerning the development of an application software and the building of the computational model of hydraulic and chlorine decay simulation and its calibration, based on the system’s automation data;
The results obtained with the developed models were allowed the making of adjustments in the chlorine settings in the system source and in strategic nodes of the network. In what concerns the rechlorination in the system, a number of new stations where designed.
The simulation models were built over a commercial application software, with adaptation of specific modules for the work’s requirements.
